Why CNA Training Rhode Island is essential to work in long term care units, hospitals, nursing homes and similar other health care facilities in RI? It is essential that an individual must complete CNA Training Rhode Island and obtain certification for working because, the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 (OBRA 1987) requires states to initiate, manage, regulate and maintain standards for Nurse Aide Training, Competency Evaluation Test and Nurse Aide Registries. The reason being, as per congress legislation, CNAs working in health care facilities must be competent enough to offer safe and quality nursing cares to patients in long term care units and hospitals and every state has the responsibility to see that every working CAN meets these conditions.
In Rhode Island, the Department of Health acts as a state program monitoring authority for various CNA training offered in this state.

The basic requirements for CNA Training Rhode Island include:

• 100 hours of total training.
• 80 hours classroom theoretical course learning component
• 20 hours of clinical training
• Clinical Training under the supervision of RN or LPN
• Can  be completed within 90 days
• Pass Criminal Check background
• Clinical training is based on the practice of subjects learned during classroom instructions.
• Students can work with actual patients during practical experience trainings.

• Respect of Residents’ rights & Independence
• Safety and Infection control
• Emergency procedures
• Interpersonal and Communications skills
• Adult Care
• Mental Health
• Additional Skills

There are state and federal grants, financial aids, scholarships and schemes for free trainings to deserving CNA students. Even long term care facility sponsor a nurse aide for free training, provided he/she agrees to work in the facility for a certain period of time after the completion of training program.
