There are few things you must know about becoming a CNA. You must enroll into a state approved CNA program which provides at least 120 hours of training which consists of 45 hours of classroom instruction, 30 hours of lab, and the rest 45 hours of hands on clinical studies. Prior to enrolling in a CNA training program, you are required to show a clean criminal record as well as pass a physical administration exam. The CNA classes include topics like basic nursing skills, safety and emergency procedures, patient rights, patient mentality and so on. After graduating from this program, you must challenge and successfully pass a state written knowledge and task assessment test (OBRA).

The state test costs you $107 and consists of a written and practical part. The written part consists of 70 questions while the practical part tests your proficiency on the five nursing skills. Once you have the passing score from the state competency exam, your name gets placed on the Washington Nurse Aide Registry and you are then eligible to work as a CNA throughout the State of Washington.
