Any individual, who is interested to make their career in health care field in Nevada, can take the first step in this direction by becoming a certified Nurse Assistant. In order to become a CNA, it is essential, that a student must complete Nevada State and federal OBRA-87 approved CNA Training Nevada, sit for the state certification test and pass the exam to earn certification, which also gets the successful candidate listed with the Nevada Nurse Aide Registry.

The basic characteristics of the training programs include:

• 75 hours of total training that must be accredited by the accrediting authority
• Program must be state and federal approved
• A classroom-based instruction is divided into 18 units
• Clinical component of training
• Training must be supervised by the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
• Students are not allowed to interact with patients during classroom training
• Can work with patients for clinical hands-on experience and practice of skills learned during classroom course.

It is the responsibility of Nevada State Board of Nursing to approve various CNA programs offered by various nursing schools and colleges throughout the state. The nursing board also has the responsibility to regulate, manage, and maintain Nevada Nurse Aide Registry, where certified nurse assistants are registered.

A student can also attend free training programs by applying for state and federal free financial aids, grants and scholarships. Even long term care facility sponsors a fresh student or working nurse aide for free CNA training, provided, they agree to work in the facility after completion of the training program.
