CNA Training South Carolina prepares an individual for competent and quality routine nursing care to bedside patients. The safe and quality nursing care is also the requirements of Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, 1987 (OBRA-87).

The South Carolina, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Department of Facility Services, has the responsibilities to manage, regulate and approve various CNA training programs offered throughout the state by numerous high schools, vocational and community colleges, technical institutes, long term care facilities, adult education centers and private schools.

CNA Training South Carolina Feature:

• The training must be completed under the general supervision of an experienced registered nurse or LPN.
• Total training consist of a minimum eighty (80) hours
• Classroom course instruction & lab training includes forty (40) hours
• Clinical hand-on experience training comprises of forty (40) hours

The 16 hours classroom training component must be based on learning consisting of:

• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Infection control
• Safety/emergency procedures, including the Heimlich maneuver
• Promoting resident independence
• Respecting resident rights

A student is prohibited to interact with residents during classroom instruction but they are allowed to work with actual patients, when they undertake clinical practice of what they have learned during classroom instructions.

If any nursing aide is sponsored by the long term facility or Medicaid- facilities and gets employed in these facilities, they can get reimbursement of their training expenses, including textbooks and/or other materials used during training.
