CNA Classes in ME

The students who want to pursue CNA training Maine should go through a federally approved CNA program as per OBRA, 1987 and state approval. The Illinois Department of Education approves various CNA programs offered by various schools in Maine. The Maine Department of Health and Human Resources is responsible for maintaining the nurse aide registry in Maine.

The CNA program in Maine has following highlights:

• Providing age-specific care to the patients.
• Following of infection control principles and practices.
• Study of body mechanics with mobility skills.

The duration of CNA program is around 150 hours and is inclusive of classroom theory and clinical training. The classroom study makes the students aware of duties and responsibilities of nursing aide. And, the clinical training gives the practical exposure of real life situations in front of nursing assistants.

The training must be under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or a qualified instructor. During classroom instruction, a student is not allowed to interact with the actual patients, but clinical training provides them opportunity to work with these patients, when they practice their classroom learnings.

After completion of the CNA program, the students have to pass the competence examination held by Maine State to get the certified as a nursing aide. On getting the certification, the students can register themselves in the nurse aide registry.
