The certified nursing aide program is around five week long combined with home health aide program. This makes the students more qualified then just being the certified nursing aides. The CNA program in Minnesota includes both classroom study and practical training. The curriculum of the CNA program mainly focuses on the basic nursing skills performed by a nursing assistant. It includes how to monitor patient’s vital signs and how to care for residents in a nursing home or hospitals.

At present, there are above CNA Minnesota training programs throughout the state, which are approved by the Minnesota Department of Health.

It is also state law that any student getting employed in any nursing home or long term care facility can obtain reimbursement for the cost of the CNA training program and the Minnesota CNA examination from the employed facility.

On completion of the CNA program, the students become eligible for the competence examination held by the Minnesota State which is mandatory to get the certification. After clearing the examination successfully, the students get their names registered in the Minnesota Nurse Aide Registry.
