CNA Classes in Iowa for Single Moms

If you are staying in Iowa and aiming to start your career in health care field, you can start working in any health care center even during your school days. In this state high school diploma or GED is not required for home health aides’ jobs, though hospitals, long term care facilities or nursing homes may need previous experience as a nursing aide or home health aide.
It is also to be remembered that due to the advancement in medical field, most of the health care facilities seek candidates, who have acquired CNA training and earned certification.

The basic component of all CNA Iowa training programs requires completion of the following minimum elements:

  • 75 hours of total training, comprising of classroom theoretical courses instruction and clinical hands-on training.cna-traing-class
  • 30 hours of clinical hands-on training
  • Rest hours spend on classroom learning
  • CNA program must be state and federal OBRA-87 approved.

The training has to be completed under the supervision of registered nurse or LPN. The completion of the training program also allows a student to sit in a competency evaluation test, which is as part of a State-approved training program. A candidate needs to pass the CNA exam within four months of their employment. The training completion and passing of the test gets a student placed on the State Nurse Aide Registry.

The basic instructions during Iowa CNA Training include:

  • Basic nursing and clinical skills.
  • General Nursing Skills
  • Personal care skills
  • Infection control
  • Human anatomy.
  • Emergency Cares
  • Use of medical terminology
  • Nutrition and infection control.
  • Anatomy
  • CPR

You can attend these training programs in high schools, vocational-technical centers, long term nursing care facilities and some community colleges.
